Chromium Sesquiphosphide, Cr2P3

Chromium Sesquiphosphide, Cr2P3, has been prepared by heating finely divided chromium with an excess of red phosphorus at 700° C. in a sealed exhausted tube. It is a grey powder, insoluble in acids. On heating at 440° C. in a current of hydrogen, the mono- phosphide is formed.
