Chromic Iodide, CrI3

Moissan states that, by the action of iodine vapour in a current of nitrogen upon chromium at a red heat, reddish crystals of Chromic Iodide, CrI3, are obtained. An uncrystallisable solution is produced by digestion of silver chromate in alcoholic hydriodic acid.
