Caesium Chromate, Cs2CrO4

Caesium Chromate, Cs2CrO4, obtained by interaction of silver chromate and caesium chloride in boiling aqueous solution, is yellow in colour, and exists in two crystalline forms - rhombic (bipyramidal):

a:b:c = 0.5640:1:0.7577;

and rhombohedral:

a:c = 1:1.2314; α = 72° 39'.

It forms a double salt, Cs2Mg(CrO4)2.6H2O, isomorphous with the corresponding rubidium salt.
